Between May to July 2021 : I worked as a summer camp counselor for children aged 5 to 12 at a sports-focused summer camp. Along with another counselor, I was responsible for a group of ten children. We spent the day playing indoor and outdoor games, having lunch with them, and keeping them entertained. We also took them on excursions: to a museum, bowling, or rock climbing.
Between October 2021 and June 2024 : I cared for a family with two daughters from ages 1 and 2 until they were 4 and 5, watching them grow up. I also cared for a boy from age 4 until he was 7. I worked closely with the families to create a safe and structured environment, both at home and outdoors. I used Montessori techniques, including free play and redirecting children when needed, such as when they became frustrated or overwhelmed during an outing. I also picked the children up from school, took them to their extracurricular activities, and helped them with their after-school routines. I firmly believe in the importance of encouraging children’s creativity through art and imagination, both indoors and outdoors.
Between May 2022 to June 2024 : I worked at Child’s View Montessori (CVM) school, where I assisted in both the Toddler Community (ages 18 months to 3 years), and the Primary Room (ages 3-6 years). As an alumni of CVM, I am the product of Montessori education, and I am a strong advocate for the mission, of independence and the value of individuality. Though I am not formally trained in Montessori education, I have been able to train alongside Montessori teachers and learn from them in the importance of allowing children to learn and gain confidence in their own abilities.
Since September 2024 : I have been working as an English teacher with small groups of children aged 1 to 14 . I have led dynamic and interactive lessons, incorporating songs, dancing, and creative activities to encourage language learning in a fun and engaging way. I also provide age-appropriate reading sessions to help develop comprehension and speaking confidence. Through this experience, I have developed strong skills in managing groups of children, staying organised, and remaining calm in all situations.
